I thought I had found my first piece of pottery, but flipped it over and saw the shell imbedded in it and realized it must be a fossil, but I posted on the Fossil Forum and didn't get any clear answers. Wondering if any of you might have any ideas?

I hope you figure it out then you can work on mine 
. I found this on an 11'th century site in a river bottom where the only lithics were carried there by the inhabitants.

Crocodile skin or similar aquatic reptile. I've found a nearly identical pattern in 2008 in Big Brook NJ, and I'm pretty sure that's what the paleontologist told me it was.
