I found this 14k medallion on rock shelf diving in 10ft of water under 3" of sand with my Minelab Excalibur. It has a red gem in it. Not too fancy but better then the dimes and quarters I was digging up :D. That makes two gold pieces in this swim hole. I'll be bck when the swell calms down! :icon_thumright:

I was looking for a pic then I realised that it was your avatar pic now HH Chug

Please post a full size pic!!! I like to download and look at the detail Chug

Your avatar pic is really small no detail when you blow it up!!!!

Sorry, got a little ahead of myself, I now have the picture added, btw, the avatar is the first gold piece I fund at the same swimming hole.

Great find of the St barbara medallion, It looks Similar in design to the one I found!!! See my avatar pic

Now for the other question What is the item on your avatar!!! Looks Cool!! HH Chug

I noticed your avatar and had to laugh, my first response and you have the exact one as your avatar ....yours is much cooler though. I didn"t have time to research my new find so thanks for letting me know it is a St Barbara. My Avatar is St Lazerus (two dogs licking his wounds and he is on crutches). I'm not sure what it is off of, maybe a bigger two piece medalian. When turned over the figure has solder spots where it was attached to something else :icon_scratch:

Your welcome, I would love to see a larger image of your avatar!!!!

I was thinking that my find might be russian, Now I have a different direction to search in!! Thank you Chug!!!!!

Nice chunk of gold!!

Chug, here's a closer look at St Lazarus. Both found in Puerto Rico

WOW, your close up made me speechless, ruby's right? awesome detail. That is a great find my friend!! :notworthy:

Thank you for the Great pic of St Lazarus!!!! I have it saved to the computer so i can look at it closer!!!! Chug

an excellent find. saint barbara was the patron saint of cannoneers. these were the guys that fired cannons. metallurgy was so poor early on you never knew if the cannon would fire or burst. so the men prayed to saint barbara to keep them safe. you can find alot of info on her online. I found one last year near an old english shipwreck.

I Looked closer it looks like it was part of a larger piece like you said A great find

Thanks for the comments. Chug, I will be returning again to the same spot to look for the remaining piece(s) of St Lazarus. There is a 10 foot deep hole about 20' in diameter. The bottom has about 6-8' of sand so as the tide and storms shift the sand I'm hoping more will be found. I've been using my snorkel gear for the shallow end (where I found St Lazarus) and my SCUBA for the deep hole (where I found St Barbara). I'll keep TN posted.

Always nice to find Gold! :icon_thumleft:
