Well after looking at old maps (1865 to be exact) i was able to track down an unowned (guessing confederate) military camp. And guess what? Its in the boonies! No historical markers on the area either. hopefully undetected "gold mine" So thats spot 1

While still looking at the same map, i tracked down the spot of an old plantation :) So im excited about my new spots

Sounds great. Post the results.

"Unowned" is mind boggling to me. EVERYTHING in New York State is owned by somebody or some organization. Every bit of it.

can not believe it is unowned someone owns the land. Better look in to it real hard would hate to see you get arrested for trespassing

Since it's un-owned I'll claim it. And everybody can hunt it.

Well not really onowned, but appears to be just woods with spotted clearings.

Find out who owns it and ask. Look on your county's website and see if they list parks - or even better have a tax map.

We have a neighboring property that is in bank foreclosure and a couple local "old enough to know better" late-teen kids were caught logging it off. The bank and police consider that trespassing and theft. Somebody or some body owns everything in most states. If it is the county or municipality they might not really care if it is "public use"; as opposed to a state or federal park where you're not supposed to dig or remove objects.

Good Luck ..."My Boy".
For Real Hope you save some relics.
Davers

Bad news, drove by where the possible camground was... big closed gate, no trespassing sign :(
on the other hand the plantation is owned by the state/county, dont see how they could build on it, its by a river, so its practically marsh

but you cant tell, "where" that is, atleast not easily..

Hmmm. Intersection of Black Creek and Savannah River, GA. That's just from a 3 1/2 minute Google search. Not doing this to be demeaning, but as a lesson. BTW, I've never been to Georgia and a will not detect in your secret spot.

Oh, welcome to Treasurenet....really.
