Mid 1800s to early 1900s. Definitely old. Nice find!!!

I sure can't seem to find any info about it online... I'm going to clean it up tonight some do you guys know of a good process for cleaning?

thats the one i found a long time ago same type. its dirty in that picture but i cleaned mine with a power sander, looks nice to me, but there are other options for cleaning like electrolysis under cleaning methods in the forum.

Yea i was thinking electrolysis and I also just saw a video on You Tube the guy soaked the head in vinger for 12 hours and it came out looking real good....

I've had great results with apple cider vinegar. Watch my video below. The one change I would suggest is to use 3 in 1 oil or even cooking oil, to seal the axehead. It seems to work much better in keeping the rust from returning. The audio is a bit low at the beginning, so you'll need to turn your volume up a bit. Sorry about that.

I really like the quote by Eric Sloane you start the video with. A very nice and poetic observation. I saw you also include a shot of a pamphlet by him with one of the axes. Is this the gentleman you spoke of as being a local restoration expert? Great video and very informative. Perfect ending!
