Detector(s) used
Minelab Etrac
Primary Interest:
Metal Detecting
I went woods detecting for three hours and I got a good enough signal in all metal mode after two hours and spent one hour digging.
The hole was a foot wide and six inches deep.
All this stuff came out of the hole and I'm sure the dog tag is 1930 Jordan,Mn.
I'm a little tired right now but when I get the jewelry cleaned I'll post it. dog 002.JPG

Those look old and it looks like they were buried years ago. Was it found by any old RR tracks or waterways? Just a hunch here but a gut feeling that those were buried by a hobo or homeless person during the depression. Hid what was left of their belongings so they wouldn't be stolen or lost.

Nice finds!!! In Jordan Mn, might have been buried during the Sioux Uprising - Many people all around south and central Mn buried valuables, and then were killed by the Sioux.

Awesome.Great finds.Congrats.

My guess is that someone stole a jewelry box and either dumped or buried the stuff they didn't want. I grew up in the country and people dumped all sorts of stuff out in the woods.

Not far from a creek and 1/4 mile from railroad tracks next to fallen tree. Yes this was a hobo or homeless area and I do find a lot of broken whiskey bottles and found a few bottles sticking out of the creek bank.

Most of the things found were copper wire, copper spoons and brass hardware from old doors. I was shocked that the jewelry was in there and the dog tag.

I'm fascinated by the piece in your hand...the one below the group image. Looks sorta like a lighter. Congrats on a fun hole.

probably someone was gathering/stealing/hoarding scrap a long time ago and stashed it - maybe there are more around.....

The flashlight is a 2 cell ribbed nickel plated brass light with slide switch . 1933 challenge brand.dog-3 001.JPG

That's cool as all get out, Rog! No telling how they all got buried there together. So what is that item in the last picture in your beginning post?
Nana :)
