Hey all,

Saw a neighbor doing yard work yesterday so I stopped to chat. I asked about doing his sidewalk strips and he told me to go for it.

Snuck in a post-work hunt today. Was feeling a little dejected at first because I didn't land silver. While cleaning my Wheats after getting home I noticed one was a 1911-S. I was trying to remember if I'd found that one before and looked it up on PCGS. Sweet! Looks like I found one of the rare early dates. It was ringing up like a 12-34 12-36 at 4 inches. I wasn't being too careful thinking it was a zincoln and gouged it. Oops! At least I dug it though.

Keepers:
-5 Wheats (1911-S, 4 common date 50s)
-1 Seattle Rainier Valley RY CO token (new one for me)

Token rang in like a zinc penny too. You just never know until you dig it. Good luck out there folks!

I'm sure you'll find another 1911S wheatie to make up for that bad luck. Where I usually search there isn't many Zincolns, sometimes Indians ring as high as them (on the ATP) so I'm always careful.

Thanks! I sure hope I do!

Congratulations on the old coin finds and cool token. :occasion14:

I always dig the zincolns. You never know if it might be a gold ring... Great job. Sorry about the gouge.. Congrats

Great day out:thumbsup:Congrats

"Warsh"ingtonian, (as we pronounce it here in the Ozarks,) great job! I can show everyone my FISTFULL of smaller sterling rings and pendants that rang up as Lincoln zinc cents on my ATPro. I agree with you, dig everything. Congrats! Sub 8-)

A great find on that old Lincoln.

Way to Go, a 1911 S is a great find. I was lucky in 1999 & got a 1912 s 'in Georgia' .

Nice Coin Star haul , a great way to start a World Coin Collection.

great day grats on all those finds

Dig them zinc signals, congrats

It's a lot easier to find "s" mint marks in your area than in the east.
Congratulations on the 1911 s WHEAT.

I've changed my recovery techniques to avoid gouging what might be a good coin. Lightly probe and then pop the shallow targets and cut a plug for anything below an inch.

Nice, yeah, I cut a plug, just not as big a plug as I would've with a coin I thought might be valuable. I mis-pinpointed and ended up hitting it in the sidewall. Live and learn I suppose.
