Found an 1876 Indian on a hill!

We did a lot of running today and got back late and I had a little time, so I swung out here in Grandmas yard. Have the 10x5” Coiltek on for the Nox800. Scanned a little in the yard digging solid mid tones. Found a piece of a horse shoe and a little pocket knife.
Ventured over to the hill and decided to scan the slope Good again. Out half way through the left side I got a nice 17/18. About 5 1/2” and out popped an 1876 Indian. I marked the spot with a stick stuck in the ground if You zoom in a bit. I really like finding Indian Head Pennies. Think this one is kind of a key date too. Thanks for looking and

Very nice! Glad to see I'm not the only one that marks coin find spots with sticks, I do it with 2 sticks. I do that so I see the location of the coin drops at the site to mark the activity.

So close to the rare 1877 key date IH.

Those 1870s Indians are tough digs. Congrats it cleaned up well. In 3 years of detecting I've only dug an 1878 and 1879 of the 1870s years. They were pretty much right next to each.

Any IHP from the 1870's is a great find. For me, those are hard to come by. Your 1876 is in very, very nice condition too!
