Found an interesting piece of wood came ashore. This small piece luckily included a nail. Any idea of the possible date of this piece?

Looks old

A lot could be determined I guess. Might take a bit of hands on analyzing to pinpoint a possible age. I can only guess its old by the type of nail or spike I see in it. It could be from a wood ship or old wood pier.

99+ % of all wood found in the sea is from land structures such as docks and piers. Very little is from shipwrecks.
