I found this lock earlier this year. Has one star on one side and two stars on the other. It's an interesting design that kind of reminds me of the shield design on the 2 cent piece or the shield nickel. Anybody have any idea as to possible value? Thanks for looking.

Ev,
That is one great looking lock. I love those old locks.
Congrats,

I found one like that at the town dump when I was a kid. It was in a box of 25 -30 locks and keys from the 19th and early 20th century.

I wish I knew where it was now...

Great lock!

Arnall's book, The Padlock Collector, values a similar lock with three stars at $30... a tad low, I'd say.

Several years ago, one with four stars brought $102 in a Schofield's auction.

BUT... do the research first. If you put it on eBay, it will sell for much more if you
know what it is. It appears to be a civil war era lock, so that might be a good place
or time frame to start at. Nice finds!!

Cool lock! Keep em coming.

Some of these old locks are worth some good money--usually in dug condition they must be brass in order to command a decent price. I remember an "Ask Mark Parker" query in an old W & E Treasures magazine where someone dug up a "story" lock that was worth a couple hundred back in 1993 or so. Important to always check those old brass locks out rather than toss them in the junk box!

Buckleboy
