I'm gonna hop on this bandwagon and ask you why you won't mention how much gold is in the rock ??? It's not like you're a millionare now if you weren't before. That doesn't even make sense to break it up and split it up either :icon_scratch: The consensus was to cost yourselves thousands of dollars? ??? ::)

Whoa!! :o What a find! Seems a shame to split it up tho. Wouldn't you all get more for it if you were to just sell it and split the proceeds?

Thanks for sharing the adventure!

Nana :)

Most of the Value would probably be the size of the Nugget.

not sure.....have to do more tests....just found it less than 5 hrs ago......acid test says its good, I am going to have to cut a piece off crush it and throw it in to the blast furnace and do an assay....that will take me some time.....I am wondering the same as well.

Yikes! Don't crush anything! Get some Hydrochloric Acid and put the whole rock into it. The acid wil eat away all of the matrix and leave the gold in the exact shape it sits in right now. Some of the most valuable pieces of gold are those which are the end product of acid etching. A friend of mine in our prospecting club found a rock that also set his detector off in a big way. He etched the matrix away and inside was a perfect birds nest bunch of wire gold. That little rock of his was in a museum for a while in Denver and eventually he sold it. I think he ended up asking way too much, but got right around $10,000 for it. Think before you cut and crunch. Don't go for the simple gold weight by spot. Go for the beautiful wire gold inside the rock.

Hydroflouric will only attack silica and iron and a few more
you could get someone dead postin info like that.

Also if you dont understand being tight liped or Dollyin some gold up dont be rude just cause you didnt get your personal lolly pop.

Good news = it was gold. That's fantastic and I'm very happy for you.

TRAGIC news = you guys sound like you already crushed it up. That is very simply heartbreaking to hear.

Great find, but what a short sighted mistake. Why not sell the entire specimen for way more than the gold value and then split that amount? This is a rare speciman, devalued hundreds or thousands of percent by splitting it. Seems like a panic move. Sorry to be critical, but if you found a Babe Ruth bat you wouldn't cut it to even pieces, geez.

You seem quite new to here, we have seen it all before.

You give me a very good recent that after posting pictures on here that he needs to be tight lipped about the money they split? They only good one I can think of is Tax dodging...
Personally if that was my rock and saw how much gold was in it ? the Government does not need to know everything it was fantastic to see it posted here but the cats out of the bag now .

If he's anonymous there's no tax dodging issue anyway, may as well post the amount.

Y'all might be overlooking that Dan is a rather savvy fellow...
Review the excellent posts he's made in the past, for his qualifications.

I'll say one thing... he treats his friends and partners very well, as they do him.
...he picked it up on the other guy's claim... he had no right to do so.
the claim owner was good enough to grant a three way split.

Maybe Dan was out-voted 2 to 1 about crushing the rock to settle the score ?

I think it's wonderful when folks post pics of their nice finds here on Tnet for us all to see.
To press for more, and specific information in open forum is kinda rude.
You want it? Send him a PM with a cash offer, as is.

"Loose lips sink ships."

...and from a post I made in the past... I recall the name of a user who is now gone.

IIRC, It was GoldFever who posted certain finds he had made which triggered an investigation into his affairs that I suspect he may not have survived, financially. He has dropped from Tnet, at least.

Dodging taxes is punishable under our system of law... Avoiding them is not.
Why set yourself up to be investigated ?

I think it would be a fun find even if it were pyrite !
