Found in backyard. What kind of point is it?

Hello All!
I'm new to the site here and any treasurehunting.
I have done a little research on this point that i've found in my backyard. (Gwinnett county, northeast of Atlanta, GA) This is my first point found on a slight hill under a tree. We've had tons of rain recently and the slight hill has been eroding.. From what I can tell it's in very good shape, made of milky white quartz and apparently a Bascom type point. According to this: http://www.projectilepoints.net/Pages/Searches/Points/Bascom.html it's likely to be about 3500+ years old. Can anyone more knowledgable confirm what I have?

It's roughly 1.5" long by 1" high, 3/8" wide at it's center tapering quickly to a sharpened edge.

It's a "stemmer" and I won't argue with the dating. I agree, give or take a thousand years.

Thanks for your comments and help. I go from knowing next to nothing about this to reading on my local area history for a few hours to purchasing a metal detector to begin relic/coin hunting. I think I've been bitten!

Hello I am far from an expert but it seems to have a Morrow Mountain look to it. In any case.... its a great find and I am happy that you shared it with us. Keep on looking in that area and show us what else you pull out
