Found "In the Chips"

I was out running around yesterday afternoon by a park a couple of blocks from home. Only had an hour or so before a cold front and rain moved in so I hurridly got out my Discovery 3300 and hit the chips. Well, actually it was pea gravel about a foot deep. When I first started MDing I found my first gold here in this park so I check it every now and then. I had my 4 1/2" Bounty Hunter gold nugget coil on and just left it on and hurridly scanned the gravel and picked up a rather flat sounding tone in front of one of the slides. A lot of times I discriminate this tone out because too often it is junk, but I have learned not to be so selective on the playground gravel. The LCD was flashing a 50 cent size target at only 2" deep. I carefully pushed back the pea gravel and caught a glimpse of something shiney and silver. So I reached in with my fingers and pulled this out! First one I ever found in working condition and it still had the right time showing! Those playgrounds ain't all clad and they replenish themselves over time. Monty

Re: Found "In the Chips"

I wonder how someone lost a large item like that:

a) and didn't notice
b) no-one else noticed before it got buried
