Found large silver and think ot is my oldest ever. Shaking hands

Well found this today and was not expecting it.

Have to charge my cam to take better pics. Shaking hands

The back side looks like a crown and the it reads the word crown under it.

How do I clean it?

Looks like a Canadian 50 cent piece. Not too old, (1937-52), but a nice find!

You just scrapped in, as they finish putting silver in them in 1946. By this point, I think they are only 50% silver, but it's not one I get very often over here. They are a little big to lose.

Someone may have brought it home across the pond after WW2, very cool find!

Line a small glass bowl with aluminum foil (shiny side up).
Pour baking soda into the bowl
put the coin on top of the pile of baking soda
heat water in a microwave to boiling hot and dump into bowl.

Take coin out in 10 mins and under running water rub between fingers.

Repeat as needed.

This method should remove the black (silver sulfide) from the coin without making it seem polished or "whizzed." The tarnish is more attracted to the aluminum than the coin. Please post photos if this works for you.
