Went to a local spot on Cape Cod today with my Explorer SE. A mill from the 1600's. Spotted this 14k ring with my eyes laying in the gravel in the water. Found about 30 coins. Targets everywhere, going back soon.

What a great looking ring!! If you weren't paying attention and not looking that ring might be someone elses!! Congrats on one sweet looking ring!!

I can't believe you jumped in there! Did you get any unwanted attention? I live down in Mashpee and hunt a few places in Falmouth. My father owns a house in West Falmouth that wasd built in 1890 after they moved a house that dated to the 1700's (ambitous weren't they). They oldest stuff I found there was a late 1800's indian head cent. I found a few merc's and eyeballed a 1901 barber before I had a detector(s). I tried to find the privy(s) and came up blanked even made myself a nice sample probe.

Beautiful pictures... Oh no...I just checked the "Treasure Hunters Book of Metal Detecting Laws" under chapter 16 sub section 4, paragraph 2, number 1-a-2... It says...the find will only be considered found with a metal detector if...and only if...you swing the coil over the eyeballed object...and you get a reading.... Just kidding nice find ;)...you probably did swing the coil over to check the reading...you did right! :D ;D

Beautiful ring! Any idea of the age?

First Gold ring is always nice no matter how or where you find it.
I found mine about 2 inches down in muddy dirt.
Almost didn't dig it because of the weak signal but I have learned to dig everything
even poptops.

Beautiful spot....Great pics and Awesome find! Funny seeing your shoes by the water.......Bombs away!!

Congrats on a nice find!
