Found my first silver at my secret spot!

Found a gorgous 1906 barber dime mint D, I hope that there's more where that came from when there's wheat there's silver I guess

If you can't leave them (like someone's yard) get a couple of decent sized washers to mark where you quit. Stick them right down on the soil and stick a nail through them to hold down so they don't dislodge if mown over. Can find real quick with detector when you return.

When I was into coin hunting, (now it's just gold), I found golf "T"s worked great. Stick them in the ground and detect right on over them. Plus, though I don't know what the price is now, but back in the early 80s, they were about $2.00 per hundred. White plastic.

You found that in the ground? Man that thing is clean! Every one I've found has been pretty crusty and/or green.

I'm not sure if it's the composition of the soil or I'm just getting lucky but most of my older coins have been really clean found another Indian today 1889

I like to go early when the ground is wet from dew and can see my path... Other than that I look for something to align with and keep an eye out for traces of dirt indicating the approximate location of the last swath... If I find good stuff I will be back with another detector or different coil anyway... Some of the trash I have removed may make further searching more fruitful... Silver can still be found in parks that have been searched for years... Whenever I go I can't wait to get at it... There are no strings attached to my detecting!

nice Barber indeed! I myself just found my first silver of the season in a 1900 Barber. Exhilarating when you first see it, no?
