Got in a quick 1 &1/2 hour hunt today at the lot next door where an old house used to stand. The home was torn down a few years back, and I have been using this spot as a sort of "training area" with my recently purchased Delta 4000. There is plenty of trash and debris, but I have been digging just about every signal just to get the practice. I haven't been MD'ing as much as when I first bought the machine because of (1) the heat (2) violent thunderstorms that pop up every afternoon [like right this very minute] and (3) the NASTIEST case of poison ivy I have ever had. It took a week of steroids to fight it back and now my left hand looks like some sort of lizard man. Haven't had a case that bad in years. I think my hand looks like this because the itch was so bad I took out my pocket knife and popped all the blisters, then rubbed salt into the wound to try and quell the itch. It was pure misery.

Anyway, got back at it today after I left the antique mall. Dug some unidentifiable iron and brass pieces, plus the 5 or 6 token pulltabs I find on every hunt. Then the Delta rang up a high 70's number and the readout actually said .25, but I was just expecting more trash. What I got was this 1947 Washington Quarter. I think I may have cut George on the cheek getting him out, but I have heard he is a tough old guy with a high threshold for pain. Sorry about that George...

I just want to take the time to thank all the t-net members who have helped me reach this milestone.

I would also like to thank all the "little people" I had to step on to reach the lofty heights that I have now achieved. I couldn't have done it without you.

Your more than welcome :icon_thumleft:

Again, your opinion truly matters and holds much sway with me. I see your long list of banner finds, and my heart grows black as black as boiled tar with envy. I look to you as a role model so I do truly value your opinions and approval.

Thanks again for your comments.

You forgot the cup of tea :nono: and you are wrong about the Banner finds, the UK holds many treasures, I happen to live and detect here...so detect long enough and the goodies will come.
You seem like a intelligent guy Hombre..try to focus more on helping, instead of alienating, and I'm sure you will be a asset to the forum :icon_thumleft:

Hey Hombre, Congrats on your first silver coin! :icon_thumright: Many, many more are in your future if you keep at it.

I must say that your avatar really cracks me up! ;D Isn't that from the movie "The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly?

Thanks. But you see, what was to be my glorious crowning achievement and one shining moment has now been pooped on yet again by "The Dementors" here on this forum. For a fleeting moment, I - the lowly hombre_de_plata_flaco - felt the sheer joy and excitement of what it is like to pull a fine silver coin from the dark clutches of Mother Earth. My pride was truly manifest, and I thought that I would come on here and make a post about my wonderful experience with this new hobby of mine - then "The Dementors" appeared.....

Swiftly they began to ridicule and mock my new find. They even called in a British metal-detecting assassin that carries a slew of Banner Finds under his name and a metal detector so juiced out the price tag would pay a Fannie Mae mortgage for 6 months. These attacks have been ruthless, coordinated, and premeditated, and they are beginning to take a tremendous toll on my mental well being.

My fragile ego has now been thoroughly crushed. I stand before you a broken man. I hope you people are happy with yourselves....

And yes, the avatar is Tuco Benedicto Juan Pacifico Maria Ramirez - AKA: "The Rat". Great film. One of the best.

Congrats on your first silver Hombre! :notworthy:

But what's with the negative rant? :icon_scratch:

The original post by Silver Searcher, was in no way insulting, only offering congratulations!

Thanks! But remember, if you ever do find some silver, rethink posting your find here, less you receive mean spirited comments such as this

Maybe someday you will find something that's worth posting.

Tnet member bazinga obviously thought you were being serious when you spoke about "the little people"! :D
Personally, I thought your acceptance speech was hilarious man! :laughing7:

I think the GEM safety razor you found is very cool and would buff up nicely! :notworthy:

I appreciate your kind words. I'm sure your lack of silver finds is tempered somewhat by the 2 Baseball National Championships the Gamecocks have won as of late.
