Sorry folks, not much to look at. lol But after 3 months of hard detecting I finally found my first one. I found it at a local beach that has been hit hard in the past. It was under 6" of soil so I figure it must have been lost at least a couple decades ago. Crazy how shiny it still is after all this time. The other picture is just some clad and a neat looking button I found during the same hour of hunting. Sorry for the blurriness lol

CONGRATULATIONS!! It is a great feeling especially after 3 months. My first was a dime also (mercury). HH

Congrats.Iam sure there will be many more to come.HH.

Good job! 90% silver is not too bad in my book. It's worth over a $1.50 melt value I believe.

Great job! there's nothing like seeing a silver in your plug. Congratulations!

Thanks a lot guys! :) I just couldnt believe how shiny it was! Is that common to find silver so deep in such good condition? :o

Neat first silver! :occasion18: :hello2:

I'm far from expert on silver, but my son & I have dug silver coins & jewelry that runs the gamut from totally black to very shiny -- depends on what minerals are in the soil or water nearby, how long it's been buried, & maybe on how much the coin has been buffeted around in moving water or grainy wet sand too.

Many years ago I lived 6 years upstate NY on shore of Lake Champlain near Plattsburg -- sure wish I'd been into detecting back then! But I did dig some groovy old bottles from old farm dump. HAVE FUN! Andi

haha thats awesome man. I'm more west, toward Rochester area. I have about 600 bottles in my collection. I grew up in a cornfield..pretty much. lol There were tons of dumps in the surrounding woods. Found many milk bottles, coke and dead soda company bottles, and even a bitters bottle worth around $500. Bottle hunting is a lot of fun. Cheers

My vary first silver coin back eighteen years ago was a 1964 roose, ill never forget it...Congrats on your first silver....:icon_thumright:

Congrats! Go find more: I'm sure you will! :icon_thumleft:

Congrats! That is real clean and the detail is great! It's also my birth year! Lol!

Yea..I have found Mercs that were shining...and Rosies that were spotted and black.....Looking forward to your next Silver find!

Congratulations! It must be the greatest feeling to pull out a coin so shiny it looks like it came out the same condition as the day it fell in. I have been hunting for over two years now (on a student's schedule) and have yet to find a silver :(
I went hunting yesterday at my usual park from the 1890's where I have picked up a Buffalo nickel and multiple wheaties, one being 1914, and my luck was out yet again. I'm not giving up though!

Nice silver. Congrats

Silver Always Comes Out Like That In My Area! Never Tarnished. That Thing Was Definately Lost 1964 Or Prior. After The Coin Composition Change People Started Hoarding Silver Coinage. You Can Still Find Silver Coins In Change But Its Quite rare Nowadays.Thats A Good Indicator That Your Site Is Old. I Bet Theres More! Go Slow! Good luck

Nice. It's a good feeling pulling a silver coin out of the ground huh? I still remember my first like it was yesterday, a 1948 Washington. GL & HH!

3 months? Think how I felt after 3 years ... it was somewhat euphoric to say the least. Awesome find! Slab it, date it and put the location you found it. Keepsake! Congrats! :)
