Hi all at TNET its harvest time and iv been asking around the local farms for permission to detect their harvested fields as theres a couple that have already done theirs, after a knock back off the first farmer who had already given full rights to hunt all of his land as he had found a viking axe their i moved on to the second farm who gave me permission straight away and we are talking a very large field anyway chuffed i thanked the farmer and explained that any finds that are worth anything i will bring directly to him on which he replied "keep whatever you find " !! what a nice guy, so i headed off down the road to the field and detected away for a good 3 hours and after getting a few george 5 pennies and a lead bullet end?? very similar to a civil war bullet but with two lines i found my second hammered coin an Elizabeth the 1st half groat heres a pic HH. 1.webp2.webp

I said those plough fields would do you good. Funny thing is, if I were a betting man, I would have played the odds & predicted your first hammered would have been a Lizzy Halfgroat. They are on my records the most commonly found hammered, having said that, any hammered is a great day & you have condition on your side.
Word of advice, although he said you could keep everything, make sure you have a 'direct' agreement what happens to Treasure that you have to declare by Law. Most of us agree a 50/50 split. It may never happen or it may happen big time & if your agreement is a little weak & you think that some 'nice guy' will give up his rights to a £2 million find, instead of saying 'what agreement' & battling for all of it. Its worth covering the most important eventuality. If you haven't read the Treasure Act, there are some good short leaflets you can get that cover the important points.

You may wait 20 years, or your next 2 minutes, but you can never expect a Gold Coin from the best of Fields. Only the time you put in reflects your best chance, plus systematic searching (gridding)!

Nice finds, like hammered coins!

Nice one! Congrats! I wish you get many more!

Awesome finds.:icon_thumleft:

beautiful coin!

cheers guys sorry i havent replied sooner as iv just gotten back from wales with the kids although did sneak in a couple of hours with the Ace 250 :laughing7:, cheers Crusader for the good advice i am going to take a contract up to the farmer and just explain that although im grateful for the offer to keep all finds id like to split 50/50 any valuable finds thus covering myself and the farmer from any fall outs should i find the big one (fingers crossed)

Its alway good to cover yourself, specially 'in Law', because I have heard it go wrong so many times when no agree was made.
