What is this. I look up google images and the number on it nothing came up. It says H 1768-B 29 at first i thought it was a handle for an antique tool. But now i Do not know. I wonder how old is it? It reminds me of a brake shoe. Maybe from a carriage or an early automobile. :dontknow:

Thought about the brake idea, but don't see any method for
attaching it to a mechanical braking system.

Found next to a blacksmith's shop makes me think it's some
type of radius tool used by the blacksmith.

What are the numbers on the piece?

There are def some pins there for attachment...

Dont know about a wagon wheel brake, they usually had some sort of wood block

Its a cast part, so a blacksmith would have made their own tools?

it reminds me of the gear brake on a fence stretcher , something like this but not this exact type. $_1.jpg
