I'm fairly certain that unfireable weapons are exempt from most gun laws (except for totin' :)
They can even be shipped in the mail!!!! I have received several antique firearms in the mail/Fedex/UPS etc... without even so much as a dealer's license. ( I carve reproduction rifle stocks and sometimes buy one for the hardware and/or for use as a pattern).

If you can separate the barrel from the stock, look at the barrel underside. You might be able to get an ID on the barrel maker and some idea of its actual age.

Wow that is different.
That is either an old 410 guage shotgun or rifle.

I agree,I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me,looks way bigger than a .22

LINK

Here's a link to a Stevens "Crack shot" 22 from the early 1900's. Similar to your but not exactly.

Keep in mind that serial numbers were not required to be on arms until 1964. It may not have a serial.

That is very cool! I'm still waiting to find my first gun while detecting. It's one of those items that makes you really wonder how it got there and what it was used for. The idea that it could have been used for nefarious purposes just makes it that much more intriguing. :icon_pirat:

Why does that not appear to be a .22? :icon_scratch:

Yea,when they have possibly been used in a crime, they should be,would you want one in your possesion??

I looks like a Steven's "crack shot" except the chamber looks like larger bore. At he turn of the century (1900) the 9mm shot gun was popular for pest control and back yard shooting sesions. I used to have a half box of the shells, but don't know what happened to them.

Should be a calber stamped on it somewhere.

We don't have to give up our guns in this country.
:icon_thumright: And we have to keep fighting for this right.

Interesting, I still haven't found an exact match. Certainly not a break action, the barrel is fixed it does not break open.
