I bought a umax about a year ago and have found many coins and relics. I mainly coin shoot, but also relic hunt. I was wondering about detectors that have ID's so I can determine if it is a coin, what type, and how deep it is. I do not want to spend over $700.00. I thought about the cotores, I like tesoro, but I did not like the ground balancing and all the batteries. What do you think, what is better than the umax and how much better. Give me your ideas please.

Hey CappyGun!
Neat screen name! :)

Sounds to me you are doing alright with the Umax. But, you can't beat a Tesoro for the money and warranty. I personally would prefer the Cortes over the TeJon but either would serve you well IMO. ALso, a Garrett Master Hunter at $500 retail is a steal of a deal.

*One word of caution; no screen is going to be 100% accurate as to what is in the ground no matter which detector you buy.

***I came back to add, have you checked out the classifieds? There's a bargain on a "like new" Cortes from Hoosier for $450 delivered. Hey, that's a $750 detector with extra coil! Sorry, I decided to buy it myself; I'm such a sucker for a sweet deal! :)

Good luck in whatever you decide!
