Did a little detecting on Friday at a site that dates from the 1800's up to the 50's. I found these three tools. I was wondering what the middle one is? It is about 9.5 inches long. :skullflag:

Hello SkyPirate. The middle one looks like an ax head called an adze. They are used for making a level surface on a piece of wood which is real useful for building log cabins...I suppose. Nice finds and HH.

Cool tools, that's history right there.

I was thinking adz too, but since you found two hoes, it could be a root chopper in the old homesteaders garden.

Great finds. You are well on your way to starting a farming business.:laughing7:

My guess is also root chopper. In my opinion it doesn't have the right shape to be an adz. Adz.webp Note the curve on the blade, absent on Skypirate's find.
