Found this eroding out of an arroyo washout due to all the rain we are getting. At first I just thought that it was a regular vertebra but after cleaning it off I could not believe what I was seeing. I told my wife that I think that we have something pretty special, don't you think. After doing a little research I am pretty sure it's a ''Stott's Point. From what I gather Stott's point are associated with the buffalo hunters from the Alberta Canada area down into Montana and the Dakota's.

No it's not. I have only dreamed of finding a point stuck in a bone. I have tried to get on property with a known buffalo jump, but there are just that many ranch owners that let you. The property that this was found is on a cattle ranch and there is a lot of sage brush. It's a semi-arid area that when it rains it can erode quite a bit depending on how much it rains.

That’s definitely a bucket list find, it’s cool how it pierced the bone without fracturing it.

That’s more than awesome, shows how sharp and strong the points were! Do you think it is from a spear or arrow? Glad you can put that one in your case, I wonder if you should try to preserve the bone somehow. Too cool for sure!! Banner!

Great job, that would be a dream com true for me. Since I have been hunting I have always thought the coolest thing would be to find a artifact that was placed somewhere by the maker. I would say more than likely the maker would have done just that with that one.

Reason I asked is I saw a similar item decades ago in a museum, but the bone was human.
