Found this at the beach

Found this at the beach the other day, is it black tourmaline or something else? Thought it was coal at first never seen it before but I'm new to this stuff.

We find a lot of coal on the beaches, either washed up from old ships or even bits from beach fires.
Earlier i meant it wasn't charcoal from a fire, but i do believe its either Anthracite Coal or Bituminous Coal.
