found this buy a church built in the 1800s....

Any idea what this could be? I was thinking maybe a part of a lamp, chess piece, or a piece of something?! I have no idea, it's pretty heavy in weight and its about as long as my index finger (thats my pinky finger in the picture). Someone please help me identify it!

hmmm...how old do you think it is? Is it silver? It's a pretty heavy piece.

End of a candlestick, candle-snuffer, curtain rod, or walking stick
An exceptionally heavy metal chess piece (doubtful)
Handle of any number of household/clerical implements

Things it's a shame it's not:
a fairy scroll case
a giant platinum chess piece

I second the curtain rod idea. Also could be part of a light fixture. My bathroom light fixture has something like that made of porcelin on each end.
