I found this while I was metal detecting in a creek. It looks old, but the writing looks modern...any help on finding out what it is would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

could be a trap or tool box tag.

I have one that's similar only it has holes on both ends. Was riveted to a dog collar once upon a time because besides a name and an address it also has the name of the dog on it.

I was hoping it would be older than I imagined. It says Hubert J Chesser Lagrange, KY on the tag. I was also thinking it could be a trap tag or something along those lines, but I'm curious to how old this tag is or if there is any value to it. Thanks again.

Always interesting to find something with a name on it. My guess is that it is a trap tag (Nice if it was a tag connected to that banner gold coin also found in Kentucky!). Found two Hubert W Chesser's in Lagrange Ky. One born in 1968 and other born in 1946. Maybe this is theirs or one of their relatives.
Thanks for sharing.

well since it appears he or a namesake is still alive, probably only chance of intrinsic value would be to him. Other then that just a Cool Find I've found 3 different examples of recently

It most definitely IS a trap tag! I buy traps from garage sales and auctions and whatnot and I replace the tags with my own, I have a small bag full of other peoples I removed. At least ya got some copper.
