Found this on a quick hunt this afternoon

Any ideas on age, and what it is? I'm thinking it's off a horse saddle or something. Any help is appreciated.

Probably just a decorative piece. There were many fancy pieces that people hung from the brow band of harness bridles, but they were usually brass, and light weight.
