This is some type of what appears to be a watch fob, its clearly the state seal of Georgia with a date of 1799 and on the back is what says "Feed The Brute" with barrels of something
There is other writing under that but its not legible in this condition.
Can the slouths of Treasurenet find out what this is exactly ?
Ebay search did not really turn up much, and a google search only shows Georgia State Seal things..
Thanks in advance.

It's a watch fob as you suspect. Look at post #3 on the below link. Gives a date range of 1910-1920, but has some interesting information about these State Seal fobs.

Charlotte is so overdeveloped. You must I've got it decades ago. I know a guy who got a dandy button in Charlotte recently. I guess it is still possible in a few places there
It was in fact probably 20 years ago, I’m thinking It was somewhere around CPCC as I was taking classes at the time

Considering the clip I was pretty sure it was a watch fob but I have no dates or relative value, although it’s pretty cruddy Dug and damaged

I can only add that research suggests that the 1799 date on the State Seal of Georgia was changed to 1776 in 1914. At least that may help you date the fob.

Wow that’s very interesting, so probably dates to before 1914 😳

In 1911 the Southern Wholesale Grocers Association took on "Feed the Brute" as their motto. Their convention was held in Atlanta that year. Maybe this is a badge from that?

The image here is from 1896 but shows the crates and barrels symbolism.
