I went to a new spot today, new to me anyway. Kind of sketchy, we will see how it goes. I hunted for almost three hours... and scored a pouch full of coins.

See if you can guess how many wheaties I dug today.

Let’s get the bad part out of the way. This just killed me. I would have loved to have had a lead toy soldier, and yeah, I looked for the other piece.

OK, now the goodies. This quarter was the first to show up.

18” away this popped out.

This little clod came up 5 minutes later.

Within about 12 minutes I scored 4 silver coins. They were all within 30 feet of each other.

Hundred year old dime... what’s left of one anyway.

This is a really good day for me.

What an amazing hunt. Congratulations on your huge score!
Was this a permission site Tom?

Kudos to you

Thanks man.

It’s a 1940s or so set of houses. I got a reluctant OK from the guy on site, however, I fear it could be rescinded at any second. I can tell it’s going to be a train wreck, it won’t last long.

Other issue, all silvers came from one little spot, it’s several acres, I found wheaties all over, but no other silver. I suspect that it’s been well hunted and those silvers were missed for some reason... perhaps under foliage.

We shall see.

Hey Tom , your out there working hard i see
Congrats on the silvers.
Getting Cold up here. Brrrr

Thanks Charlie. I hunted in a long sleeve T-shirt yesterday afternoon, but it was below freezing in the morning. That’s cold for us Southerners. Best to you brother!

Looks like you almost hit a spill Tom . Those broken relics like the soldier are always depressing. HH, Q.

Way to go on all those silvers tom! Looks like you found yourself a pretty decent spot

Nice score on hte silvers Tom, congrats.
If you display the remains of the lead piece just put the label pin front of it reading "Foot Prints In Time" :)

Great hunt Tom! Any number on the bottom of your toy soldier base? Four silvers in one day is just wow! Sub :headbang:

Nice haul there Tom! Silver coins are always welcome...especially in large numbers. I'm very impressed with your YTD silver count. I'm sure that representing a lot of hours out in the field. Congrats!

I had hopes that you’d stop by and ID It for me. After some scrubbing, I believe it says “No 34”. It’s large compared to this other previously found one.

Tom, How tall is the soldier next to the base? 54 mm or about 3 + inches? If he is 3+ inches, this base you found may be from a statuette, rather than a toy soldier. Sub8-)

The complete one is 54mm. The base is a different scale. I see it now, I get excited. It would have been well over 3” if complete. Statuette it is then. Thanks Sub!

I have two words for you.

No , really, nice finds

Nicely done, Sir!!! 🙌🙌🙌

Nice hunt, Tom! Love the dirty pic with the silver quarter on top. Grats and get back out there!

4 Silver makes for 1 awesome hunt! Congrats again on the killer day!

Well Tom, you do actually have a toy soldier, not a statuette. American "dime store" soldiers were all about 3" tall and made by different companies such as Barclay, Manoil, Jones, Grey Iron, etc...were sold individually out of toy bins in the 1930's by various retailers. Based on the No. 34 and similar features, I am sure that your figure when complete would have been the Manoil No. 34 "AVIATOR." This figure was a favorite of kids to have in conjunction with a big tin-lithograph bomber or fighter plane, such as those made by Marx. You may still find the rest of him out there, keep hunting! Congrats on the 420 day Tom. :tongue3: (get-it) :dontknow: 4 silvers and 20 wheats makes for a good hunt. Glad to see that someone got out.

Awesome day for sure! :occasion14:

Congratualtions on the nice silver run! :occasion14:

Very nice Tom. Four silvers and twenty wheats in a single hunt is outstanding. It's tough on a man finding pieces of relics. At least now you know what you got part of...which probably makes it even worser. Hey did I tell you I found a Merc dime also...and on that note I'm out my brother. Best of luck on your future hunts.
