Frame of Triangles

This frame of triangles is loosely patterned after the serpent mound in Ohio. The frame was put together by a collector who cherry picked high grade pieces from Ft. Ancient and other woodland and mississippian collections. Most of them are from Ky. and Oh. and surrounding states. Materials I recognise are Boyle, Carter Cave, Flint Ridge, Sonora, Hughes River. Last couple pics are some close ups that show the quality of individual points.

Everytime I see a display done like that I like it more and more. Great cherry picking for sure.
So ok,,some are ft ancient what other types are you seeing? A lot look like our Guntersvilles and maybe hamiltons as well. A lot from our Dallas period .......which you guys call fort ancient. I get confused a little in this time frame and typology. Appreciate what you have to say.

Thanks man, appreciate it. I really like how this guy collected his triangles, high grade examples and materials. It would take decades to put together a frame like this, so I jumped at the oppurtunity to acquire this collection. Triangles are one of my favorite types and this frame has allowed me to study them in more detail. There are quite a few Guntersvilles, and imo are the finest worked in the lot. Other types include Ft. Ancient, Hamilton, Madison, and possibly a Sand Mtn. or two. I'm sure I'm missing a couple variations as well. Those concave base Guntersvilles are tough to id.I pictured them all and will add a few more individual shots.

Guntersville, Madison, Hamilton, Ft. Ancient...I think that's right. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. I think there are a couple Levannas too, wide concave base.

I've heard stories about the bass fishing at Guntersville, sounds epic from what I've heard. What's the deal with Sand Mt? never heard anything about that place.

Here's one with ears, tough to place this guy in a specific type, could actually be a little Dalton with that flaking, even looks like a slight shoulder on one side ...What would you say? I'd like to see some of your Guntersvilles some time, I'm really liking those. Check those eared examples for basal grinding and earlier flaking, could be Daltons.

thirty7, did you just buy that tray recently? I could have sworn I saw that same tray on Jon Dickinsons web site for sale here just last week or so. I thought about trying to get it myself.

Yes I pulled out some triangulars to post today. I was also wondering small copena but it just does not fit. Its more daltonish.Triangulars do not have the ears even in guntersville. Yeah I have won a few there when my life was nothing but tournament fishing. Some friends went on to go pro. That is really hard work.
Sand Mountain is a tough and rough area....
Will post later letting the storms wash my boat !

Raining hard here, should expose some new flint though. What's the biggest bass you pulled out of Guntersville?
