Frank Fish questions

Can anyone give me more info on Frank Fish and his book? I am planning on backpacking from Tahoe to the start of the American river and following it down. I read that he found some large gold caches in the area?? My point for doing the trip is to MD my way down looking for such caches.

From Tahoe to the start of the American River? That's at least 150 miles of MD'ing. Better bring extra batteries. BTW; Tahoe won't thaw out until late April.

Yes I know. My jumping off point is Crystal bay Cove. I'll only be mding any areas I find that looked like old camps.
