Fresh Relics From Nashville battlefield

[mfjohnson]

I was able to spend a couple hours at a spot I hadn't hit since late spring. The folks there are very nice and I usually have a decent pocket of finds, great combination. After enjoying this great weather and sharing a couple bullets and percussion caps, I heard the line I love to hear, "Comeback anytime".

Below is a pic of today's haul. The iron ball is just over 1.5" (measured 1 9/16"). I believe the correct classification is Grape shot, right? Also, any ideas on the left iron buckle/clasp thing. I haven't seen one like that

Thanks for looking,
Mike

That looks like a GREAT hunt.
Congratulations.

Very nice saves! I like the Spencer shell. You are right about the grape shot!

Congrats Mike, nice finds...Lance

Good finds today Mike! I like getting the text messages on the phone with the big finds!

Was this an area that you and I have hit together when I've been up there or is this something different? Maybe where the military ring was dug up?

[mfjohnson]

Hey Nathan,

This area is about a mile northeast of the area we hunted on. It's about 200 yards from that recent hotspot were the buttons/bullets/caps/ramrod came from.

Nice lead! That is actually a Cannister shot not grape but still a BEAUTY. I found one a couple months ago here in VA! They put off the prettiest IRON signal that you ever heard!!

[BuckleBoy]

Yep. That's a Cannister. Nice finds!

Great to see such beautiful drops as those coming up--including that great Spencer. I've only found three of these intact like that in my 15 years of CW diggin. Found many that had deteriorated so much that all that was left was the bullet and the end of the casing in the hole.

Cheers,

Buckleboy

So THAT's what an unfired Spencer round looks like!!!

I've found a few cartridge cases in a farm field near my house. Biggest rimfire cases that I ever saw!

Congrats!!!

Great finds! I always hope to find a nice civil war relic, but no luck so far. We dont get out and detect as much as I would like. Keep them coming.

[birdman]

Very nice minnies! I want to get back down south so bad it is killing me. Love the CW stuff.
