hooked up with old hunt partner for my first field hunt of the fall on tues.
I got a few old coins but he ended the day with the winner - its beat - but identified
Ma. 1652 III pence silver
He got excited when he pulled it out and could see two of the II - thought he had a two pence
and could see some of the beading - you can see the WENGL around its right side - think its a pine tree
could be oak - too worn and beat to tell - but at least its a tree coin

other notable finds by him - the tiny rat tail baby spoon ...the brass spanners that may be 1600s or 1700s
arrow head which he eyeballed early in the hunt and musket balls - 2 being "indian" ones - (the barrel shaped ones)
a few period buttons

This Mass silver is an Oak Tree iii pence NOE 25. I have been staring at it for awhile now. On top of what my buddy Oxbow pointed out the other dead giveaway is the dot just above the base line of the N. It dips down just a bit more than others. They are also a bit more distinct than the 26. That's an incredible find that your friend made Casper. Some nice old finds coming from that site. I hope you go back and find your first buddy. If not hit by the plow that coin would be worth a lot of money. As Oxbow said it's still rare enough to command a very handsome price. Great job Ox on the ID. 99.8% sure you nailed it. It doesn't look close to anything else besides the 26 but I don't believe the dots are correct. Casper enjoy your vaca.

He did well! I'd take one in any condition.... and any denomination and any rarity too. Are you listening tree coin god?

Funny I just talked to Tree Coin God. He only hears people from New England and a bit south down the coast. Sorry bro. Only Old Miltary Button God can hear you. Don't get greedy now 8-)
