We went for a hunt in the woods today, beautiful day just right for detecting. A few weeks ago we were down in the valley and found lots of shards but ran out of time so we decided to come back another day. This time we followed old trails uphill and on top we found a plateau with ditches, cellar holes and embankment from the other side to what turns out to be an old castle... It was completely littered with nails, molten lead, shards...we got nothing there but some pics from this nice place. I must been a castle hundreds of years ago and after that some kind of homestead and destroyed in WWII. Some bomb craters nearby and rubble all over the plateau... We followed the embankment to the flank of the next hill and some finds were coming... Newest coin was a 10 eurocents, prussian coins down to a nice roman with a beautiful patina. Hope to get some help from uk in identifying. Head, bearded, facing right and obverse with a woman, shield and spear. Musket balls, buttons from 1600s to WWII, iron shoe buckle, military belt buckle and a apricot jam tube from a ration pack :icon_scratch: . All the scrap like casings, bullets and so on is not on the pics this time... Best of the day were some wild pigs and deer we met.... :tongue3: I got some pics when we followed them and had the wind from front so we could come closer. Sorry, only shot with my cell phone...

Made a pic with my phone first just to see it was only 2 metres arch left. I stuck my head in this hole though....met hundreds of mosquitoes and decided to come back in winter.... :tongue3:

These were young ones....too small after a hard day detecting! We had seen another later with just the right weight to garnish with a barrel beer.... :laughing9:

Do You know what bronze it is? There were two arches, one goes down to the cellar hole. The cellar is completely in solid rock. Lots of work back then...
In the background You can see the embankment to the castle with trees on both sides.

Its a Dupondus but it could be a couple of Emperors, without better photos, I think Marcus Aurelius.

Thanks Cru! Try to make some pics when cleaned a little, but the bust is not the better side....
