Fugio cent found last night!

Good morning everyone excited to share that I found a fugio cent last night along with some flat buttons. Not knowing much about the coin it was interesting to read about when I got home.

That’s a big bucket lister, huge congrats! Have you found/cleaned many large cents in your area? In PA some old copper coins have that coating of crud that your coin appears to have and can be removed to expose nice details with a toothpick or Andres Pencils (soft one only). Other old coppers only carry the detail in this crud layer and when removed the coin is truly ruined. Others on this forum use a peroxide technique and some electrolysis. Maybe best to meet up with someone in your area who has cleaned a rare old copper before attempting.

Like PA dirt said be careful. Some coppers clean up nicely and some are totally ruined by the cleaning... the kicker is you often don't know until you try. That's definitely a coin that you want to save as much detail as possible. I'd say post a pic of the other side and see if anyone can recommend what to do.
