Hey folks. While visiting some banks doing some dumping, a teller informed me that some older gentleman dropped off $100 in new $2 bills, so i bought them, to find out they were from series 2009... I did not know they made series 2009 $2 bills, did some research and found that the prints were significantly lower in mintage than other years, in all, 510,000(give or take) were made... a huge decline compared to the 1976 or 2003-A series with over 220,000,000 minted each. Cool.

and so this doesn't get moved by mods, i found a 1958d wheatie in the reject tray today ;)

Older gentleman.....low series...... you sure they are legit? I ain't never, ever, seen no 2009 $2 bill.

I have found 2 in banks before. The first one I found was about 3 months ago or so. The most recent one was a month ago.

I've never heard of the 2009 series $2 bill either until today, the ones I got are consecutive crisp bills too

I have yet to find more than one by itself, but I would probably hold on to those. I kept my first one and gave my sister the other one.

If you don't want to hold on to them, I bet you could get some good money off of eBay/Cragslist for them.

yeah, i bought $102 worth of them, might go back and buy the remaining $200 they have in $2 bills hoping to get some more low production $2 bills(hopefully)... i'm going to try and sell one to see what kind of offers i get(not on tnet), you never know, wouldn't it be nice to be able to double your money? haha... now i have to dump $400 in $2 bills that I don't want

Nice! I've searched a couple thousand in $2s, still no stars or anything older than 1976 (I have found 2 or 3 birthday bills though). Let us know if you make any money on the $2s!

if i remember, i will let ya know haha. I am only selling 1, the loner that is not part of the concecutive bundle of crisp 2009's. Starting bid will be $2... (again, so the mods don't take this down, i am not attempting to sell anything in TNET, and so this counts as a CRH thread, I found a 1958d wheat cent in the reject tray today ;) )

That is a great find buff.. Definitely worth keeping for the later years..

Heard a story on NPR (which I listen to only after R.L.) that featured some guy from Treasury who said that $2.00 bills are printed every year, but that they just don't make it into widespread distribution because collectors scoop them up and banks don't like to deal with them...
