I wanted to hunt the old rocky cornfield again yesterday before they started planting the crops. I was digging every signal with the sensitivity turned up and the discrimination turned down. I dug a bunch of nails which I already knew was iron, but was something to do. I was about ready to leave and I thought that I would hit almost the exact area where I found the other buttons again, which was about the fourth time since I found the other G.W. button. I was scanning every which way. I thought that this is a pretty good signal, but I started digging this same hole the other week. I didn't dig the hole before because it was so rocky. I pulled the first one out of this hole at around 10 inches to one foot. Was pretty psyched and kept scanning,it wasn't 5 minutes later and I pulled another one out about 10 feet from where I found the 2nd button;it was down about a foot also. When I dug the last button which was the 3rd one I was positive what was already in the ground. On this whole I dug most of it by hand (so many rocks.) Went and grabbed my coat and walked away with 2 clumps of ground in my pocket. Unfortunately these 2 were also hit with the plow; actually the rocks probably bent them up when they plowed. I was told these buttons come in fours, so there should be 1 more somewhere around there. I don't know how I missed them before. None of these have shanks on the back of them.

Wow, Congrats on two more GW's! You may want to look into getting them straightened by a professional.

I was wondering about that, but I figured you would see a stress mark. Not like they are perfect anyhow. I guess brass isn't like copper as far as turning color.

Thanks for looking and the comments!

It's ok to be very excited about this find :laughing7:

Did you do a happy dance of any type? or possibly a little jig?

I would have.

Its a good possibility you seem to find everything else.

Now that is what I call a banner find!

Three GWs'...You are hated! ;D

Banner finds, what more is there to say? I will say, you should have Roland aka RoFro straighten and put shanks on them. Wouldn't cost much and he's one of the best out there.

Nice hat-trick there! maybe the whole jacket of buttons is there... :icon_thumright:
