Dug about 2 hours ago around old homesite. Could it be a gas valve? I’m clueless. Thanks for viewing.

Yep. Very popular on motorcycles, but used on many engines. Yours appears to have been either welded or brazed, as a repair attempt. Is it steel, stainless or brass?

I think it’s brass. . As I clean a little I can see brass color and rang up more in the brass range.
