Found this today can anyone tell me if this is genuine and not done by somebody on purpose?

There's a nifty name for proving a real one where the opposite side of the coin has some sort of issue. The name escapes me but I don't know if that's a genuine error
 
I'm no expert, but it certainly looks like someone just cut a hunk out of that coin.
 
I believe that nifty term is, "The Blakesley effect."
 
I would say its not genuine. I believe the clipped edge would be the same as the edge of the half. As in, if you take another half, it should fit perfectly within the clip with all edges lining up.
