There is a field in Utah where you can get very nice hollow specimens with exceptional crystal quality. I used to gather them whenever I was there on gov. business and use the the post lapidary shop to cut them open before leaaving for Az.

The place is on the back roads leading to Dugway proving grounds, but is still just out side the boundaries of the grounds, at least it was. That was years ago, but can't beleive the field is all dug up, there were too many acres of these things. Was being opened regularly with a back hoe. Don't remeber having to get permisssion either as it was on public land.
