1730's wow!

Yes, it's a George II British halfpenny. It's the younger bust so dates 1729, through the 1730s, and very early 1740s I believe. There is no 1741 so might be the cut off for that bust. (easy to check - I'm just going by memory)

It's a different coin he found online. No hole behind the head see? I generally just soak mine for a week, month,or more in olive oil with the occasional light scrub of a toothbrush or wooden toothpick.Still, they never come out as good as other peoples do lol. Then again i don't mess about with peroxide, electrolysis and the like yet. :read2:

its a holed british colonial era copper --being both "dug and holed" does hurt its $$ value a fair bit --but its still nice

Do yourself a favor and never ask that dealer's advice again on anything you find because that's about as bad of an answer as you could have got!

In similar condition a CT would be worth more than a George II Regal (genuine) issue British hlafpeny.
