had a garage sale this past weekend and most items sell for 25 or 50 cents, had 400 uncleaned quarters from mding to use as change. thought it might be an easy way to use them without washing them. one lady receiving 2 quarters back in change looked at me and said where did you get these quarters, dig them up and i said as a matter of fact i did. sure made my day ! then she said tell me more, i"ve been lookong for a hobby for my husband so he will get off the couch.

And they work just fine in those mechanical newspaper boxes! Trust me on this! :headbang:

I'm going to box mine up and use them to pay my taxes. ;D

can you spell "coinstar"? I put the zincolns in those. The vig isn't as bad as tossing the quarters or dimes. The ones that don't pass the star test get left in the reject bin for the next looker. :icon_sunny:

Spend 'em for cash.

Works' every time!

Why would she want to get her husband a hobby cleaning quarters? She should get him a detector! LOL TTC

I use my Quarters for

Car wash, at the Laundry mat, & emergency sodas,
or parking.

the rotted Zinks I'm saving till somone I Know has
a yard sale. Will sell the Whole bunch

IF I Have a box that looks
like several 000 rotting zincs
I'll put a 50 Cent price tag on them

the rest of my pennies, Nickels & Dimes
either will go to my Bank to be counted free,
Or
a machine that charges 5% depending
on the direction I'm heading at the time.

I cashed in my rotted zincy's at the US Mint. I told my fellow club members all to bring in their large quantity of zincs.
I labeled and weighed each member's amount.
Then I got a large "flat rate" box from the USPS (I think they are $10.70 now for all you can fit in it, maybe a few buck more).
I filled that sucker with 38 pounds of zinc pennies that were trashed and sent them off to the mint.
A month or two later they sent me back a check for around $56 dollars.
I went back and figured out each person's % based on how much weight they gave me in the beginning. I divided the shipping costs based on the % of weight they gave me also. Once shipping was subtracted from each persons pennies, they still ended up with
a decent amount that they would have just thrown away anyway.
One guy got back about $28. He gave me $5 just for doing all the work.
Didn't expect it, so that was kinda cool.
The mint pays a % based on a per pound basis.
