The GF and I went to some private property with a creek in Georgia today that had a homestead in the 1820s. We were using our sieves to look for artifacts and were beginning to move some of the stones out of the way when she turns to me with this in both hands, “Is this flint?” I about fainted. I had to explain in the simplest terms that she had just found the gem of gems. She had no idea it was even a point, let alone the biggest and best freaking point she’d ever find [emoji23][emoji23] Needless to say, we’ve been freaking out all night. It measures 6.5”x2.75” and weighs probably 1.5-2 pounds. She loves looking for this kind of stuff as much as any of us, and it was truly a special, once in a lifetime moment, to be with her when she found it. It's a biface. Maybe used like that as spade or even a celt. Maybe just an unfinished biface. Is there any polish on the bit end? Gary

Not a point, it looks more like a hoe for digging looks unfinished. It is a nice find for your gf .

Sorry, but unless gf is a member at time found it does not qualify for banner.

Maybe I'm missing something here and I don't mean to be mean. As mentioned above, a biface of some sort, and a really nice find for anyone, member or not, but banner?

Okay, you guys are definitely right, we hardly ever find anything like this, so pardon our ignorance [emoji28][emoji23]

As to the banner, we use this account to jointly post our finds [emoji4]

Sorry, only one member per account for banner purposes.

Awesome find, I was leaning toward a hoe/spade as others suggested, and would like to join ToddsPoint in asking about wear/polish on the top edge?

That’s a really nice find not sure it would be a banner if posted in the Indian artifacts forum as I have seen a lot of axe heads, celts , adzes, and other artifacts found that didn’t make it

Thanks man!! I don’t think it has much (if any) wear/polish. Looking at the dry photo, it looks like maybe a little. I’ll have to see next time I go visit her.
