Was rootin' around in a ghost town with the Ace and found this right on top the ground under some mesquite bushes. Used to be plated in gold i believe. Thought it was pretty cool...

That is extremely cool for sure. I wonder if it is really as old as that town. May have belonged to one of the "ladies of entertainment". Is there any way to have it dated? It does look very old.

I suppose i could have an antique jewelery appraiser have a look at it, but i don't know of any in the area. The town was founded in 1886 as a train stop along the southern pacific rr line.

Great find there schoser! :icon_thumright:
I agree . . . . it definitely looks to have some age to it!

son of gun.....it looks like you found the 'chain and slide' of a necklace that would be used to hold a small watch around the neck. the slide allowed for adjustment of the chain to bring the watch up to a certain level around the busom of the lady wearing it. these were popular around the turn of the century and 'slides' are collected by many folks.....tomas..

Nice chain...congrats !
