Do your homework!!!! Nevada, Oregon, Wyoming and even Utah have some great locations which are hell getting to; but are very worth it in the end. We will drive 7-8 hours to just metal detect for the day!!!!! It is a great time to just get away from people and you get to see some great surroundings. Even if you don't find something. Find old maps and photos are a must. The internet is a great place to start. Old ghost town books are great as well. The older the better.

Old ranches area great as well. Just be nice to the rancher or whoever owns the property. Most of the time they will tell you where to hunt and what they have found just lying on the surface. We have always offered them what we find. Have never had anyone ask for anything we have found. I still give them something!!!!
