every halloween we start to get the posts about people seeing ghosts in their houses, outside, blah, blah, blah and every year i ask for somebody, anybody to let me come and check it out(i'll drive or fly any resonable distance)..........so far nothing,i don't believe in god or a higher power(i believe in fact and science),BUT like jim said if you believe in god ya gotta believe in ghosts,so if i did happen to see a ghost it would be life changing for me.........but like i said so far no takers......so no ghosts

If "George" becomes more active, I will let you know. Sometimes though, you can be in a place and wanting to see or hear something so bad, it won't happen.

Since my Mom passed (in my home), "George" is not as active as he use to be :(...I miss him!!!

There's one thread on here that a Tnet'er and his family has "visitors"...I can't remember the title of it...but I would bet he would let you come to see his, since his activity is more recent and happens more often than mine. His wife, kids and other family members have witness something in this home.

But, I'll let you know if and when "George" decides to become more active again...he seems to come around once in awhile just to let me know he's still with us. Guess he's comfortable with us as we are with him! Family, don't cha' love it?

;D TRUE... "spirits" do NOT "perform on demand", as in a "scientific experiment"; and "scientific experi-
ments" to be reliable & valid MUST be "duplicated" (same test, EVERY time, same "conditions", etc.). "George" sounds like "Mr. Blue", in a Bed & Breakfast Inn, that wife & I "over-nighted" at, a few years ago; "they" just "come & go". :D ;D

Yes. I do believe in ghosts / spirits and could give many examples of personal experiences. Doubters would still doubt and believers would still believe. The only way a doubter would change his / her mind would be through having their own multiple experiences. Why multiple? Because they still would not believe if they had a single sighting. That's OK. Their choice.

Most of my experiences have not been sightings, but have been scents of specific things and strange happenings. One of my mother's close friends died about 6 or 7 years ago. Her name was Mrs. Mitchell; a very nice lady. When she learned that my Dad liked blueberry pie, she baked him several, at different times, and would bring then down to him. She lived a couple of houses up the street. The smell of those pies would fill the house; they were homemade with dumplings. After she died, every once in a while I would smell a blueberry pie, just as plainly as could be. It wouldn't last long. Just a couple of minutes and then it would be gone. Skip forward to last year. The last time my Dad was able to leave the house, I took him and my Mom around to put flowers on family graves at several different cemeteries. Our last stop was to put flowers on Mrs. Mitchell's grave. At the previous stop, about 6 miles away, I asked my Mom if she had any peppermint drops for Daddy to moisten his mouth. (Dad had Parkinson) She said," No I forgot to bring any." We pulled out of the churchyard and headed for Mrs. Mitchell's church about 6 miles away. When we got to her, Mama and Daddy stayed in the car while I placed the flowers. I'd lowered the windows in the 2 front doors so they'd get a little breeze. When I got back to the car, got in, and was buckling my seatbelt; the strongest scent of peppermint came through my window and through the car. I asked my Mom if she'd found some peppermint after all and she looked at me a little sidewise and said, "No. Why?" And then she smelled it---then it was gone. We both kinda smiled and I said, "OK Ms, Mitchell. You're welcomed." My Mom and I agreed that she was saying "Thank you", for those flowers and used the peppermint scent that we'd just been talking about not 20 minutes earlier and several miles away.
My Mom had promised Ms Mitchell that she'd put flowers on her grave for as long as she was physically able to get around. You see, Ms M. knew she could die at anytime because she had an inoperable hernia in her aorta artery that could blow out without warning and she had no close relatives. Her daughter had died a few years earlier.
I apologise for writing such a long piece, but Ms Mitchell was a very nice lady and deserves to be remembered by somebody.

Mrs Mitchell sounds like a sweetheart and a delight to remember. I bet her blueberry pies were terrific, too. :)

That's interesting that you "smell the evidence" so to speak. They say that smells (or aroma - sounds nicer lol) have the strongest link to our memories.

Mrs. Mitchell was a sweet lady. She'd been a hard working single mom for years and her daughter had some physical disabilities. She's buried next to her daughter in a country cemetery.

I agree about the sense of smell being a strong memory. I had an Uncle die in my bedroom years ago. He was one of my Mother's brothers who suffered with terminal esophageal cancer. He had been a heavy smoker for years and, at one time, I would smell cigarette smoke in my bedroom. I used to think it was my Uncle stopping by, but Mrs. Mitchell smoked, too. So I'm not too sure. It's been quite a while since I've smelled cigarette smoke. Mrs. Mitchell had a little Benji-looking dog she named Sugar. After she crossed over, there was one room in her mobile home that Sugar absolutely refused to go into. We found a good home for Sugar with another of my Mom's friends (a widow lady) and they both benefited. After being sick for a short time, Sugar disappeared. Many folks believe that pet dogs will go off to be alone when they know that they're about to die. :dontknow:

I think humans have only scratched the surface in understanding physics and how the universe works, etc., so I think it would be foolish not to acknowledge the possibility of ghosts. I've never had any experiences that I can recall, but there are people that I love and trust who have. Perhaps one day we will understand the afterlife and what is now paranormal will just become normal.

im scared of ghost :( :icon_pale
I've felt one behind me before, but if i ever saw one i'd probably wet my pants!
Now imma have nightmares.

I believe,,,
I even captured one in this photo. I saw something in my view finder just as I was about to snap the shot and this is what showed up...

Na,,, that's just some of my trick photography, ;D but,,,
I have seen a few things I couldn't explain. When I was young and my Grandmother passed we brought some flowers home from the funeral and had them in the house. We were listening to "The Old Rugged Cross", (My Grandmother's favorite song), on a small stereo and one of the speakers came out from the wall a few feet and then fell to the floor. It didn't just fall straight down, it came out and then fell. I still don't know whether to believe it, or not, but that's what myself and a few other people swore we saw.

Also, my aunt, who lived next door had some of the flowers in her house too and she said as she was walking by her bed it jump up off the floor... She was an elderly lady that never told a lie... We have never brought any flowers home from a funeral ever since... :icon_scratch:

One more weird one before I go. Just a few summers ago I was out detecting on some grounds of a place that was erected in the early 1800's and I kept hearing old 20's band music. This was pretty much out in the middle of nowhere and it sounded like it was only about 30 yards away from me... After a few minute of hearing it,, and then not, it give me the creeps and I got out of dodge...

Sorry for such a long reply, but I could talk about this kinda stuff all day... I love watching Ghost Hunters... ;D

I am Scully....not Mulder...however, as I have never seen a ghost I won''t beleive in such until I do, I have had enough contact with credible people who have....my ghost story follows.....

Civil War ghost on my land.....

I had just moved into the house I built close to Manassas battlefield in 1983, there was a minor skirmish on the property and both sides camped there during the many battles and troops movements of the Northern Virginia theater.....found lots of relics to confirm this over the years....

My daughter was age 6, she and a few of her cousins were having a slumber party with my wife and sister in law in attendance in the living room right next to our sliding glass door. My sister in law (30's) let out a scream when she saw a "man" looking inside, my daughter turned and saw him too, all the kids did and so did my wife. The screams of a man outside woke me up, I came out in my shorts, pistol in hand, turned on all the lights and stepped outside, wondering where my rather fierce dog was and why he wasn't barking....he was hiding under the steps, whimpering, tail tucked and shivering.

I yelled for the guy to show himself, I was armed and the police had been called....nothing....I went back inside and everyone was visibly shaken, my daughter got the best look at 'him' he was right behind her back to the glass door.

She described the man as tall, a beard, wearing a hat like a cowboy hat, shiney buttons and a red belt with a long sword...she described perfectly a confederate officers uniform....she didn't know a thing about the civil war or about the battkles on our property yet she described the uniform to a T down to the shiney rows of buttons.

Later, through research, I discovered that a Colonel from South Carolina had been killed near or on our property, before he died he gave his sargeant his pocket watch and told him to get it to his family. To this day I wonder if the Colonel was looking for his watch?

i haven't seen him but i did see a ghost at my brother-in-laws house next door to my old home....never did tell that story...seems i had problems posting it. as i was writing it my computer would shut off and erase all my writing before i could post....happened like 6 times and got fed up and quit...i will try again soon

BTW its been pretty quiet here...but then again he seems to appear when we have company and so far only women have seen him..me and my son haven't and we roam the house at all hours

And pets seem to know too...always listen to your pet. This time it almost cost me my life.

;D For those of you, who "see" REBEL (Confederate) ghosts... RED "stash" under belt means ARTILLERY... look for "artillery lines"; LIGHT BLUE is INFANTRY... look for "firing lines"; YELLOW is CAVALRY... look for "horse & rider lines"; may be others... just can not remember 'em; think WHITE was CSA NAVY/MARINES. ??? :icon_study:

'Our sofa is haunted'

A Bristol family claim their sofa is haunted.

Receptionist Christine Strange, of Bristol, says her couch has started making weird noises that are getting louder and louder.

"One Sunday morning I sat down on it with a cup of tea and suddenly heard this odd squeaky noise.

"I thought I must be going mad but Poppy, my Yorkshire terrier, heard it too.

"She started sniffing around but then got scared and ran away.

"It could be an alien for all we know. The noise is getting louder and louder. I'm scared it's going to come bursting out one evening while we're watching TV."

The Sun reports husband Nigel, 54, refuses to sit on the sofa.

But experts say Britain is suffering a bad dose of supernatural apparitions.

Nick Pope, described as a former X Files expert for Britain's Ministry of Defence, said: "There are more UFO sightings and more reports of other weird phenomena than I can recall from any previous year."

Okay, how about these guys?

I knew a nice older lady who owned some property near a major battlefield in Northern Virginia, the house was standing during the civil war and visited by both sides of course. I used to go over it with a MD every chance I had. Now this lady was what I would call a real lady, intelligent, polite, charming, a real Southern Belle living in a modern world. When I got to know her real well she asked me something that kind of took me aback.

"Did you ever see ghosts when you were out looking for artifacts" she asked? Well no Ma'am....I told her the story (above) of my daughters sighting of "the Colonel"....then she says...Well, don;t think I'm crazy or anything....but I keep seeing ghosts up on that hill....she pointd to a small rise.

STorys goes like this, she was out riding horses on the trail by that hill, she came through a little clearing and saw three soldiers, "They looked soooo sad, and sooo tired and sooo dejected I felt so sorry for them" She said.
He horse was a bit spooked, ears up and started backing, one of them looked at her and then they all disappeared. Took her a few moments to control her horse, she says she felt real cold and then turned and headed back.

Later she showed me the exact spot...perfect place for a pickett post, on that rise I could see all the way to the Bull run Mountains. I fired up the detector and with the first swing found dropped bullets. Lots of articles came off that hill....nothing great but I suspected the three ghosts she saw were probably confederate picketts, she described their clothes as sort of ragged and brownish...no, I never saw any ghosts, wish I had.

;D :coffee2: :tongue3:  They were REBEL "pickets"/'scouts", as you said; PROBABLY towards the "end" when Rebels were outta uniforms, etc. STILL "spying", etc. on D.C.. Known as "BUTTERNUTS" for the BROWN "coats" over "ragged" pants... NO shoes. MAY have also been HOME GUARDS, OR part of J.S. MOSBY'S RAIDERS (aka MOSBY'S GHOSTS... :D) They rode into D.C.; stole stuff like GOLD, SILVER, & JEWELRY & then buried it ALL somewhere in NORTHERN VIRGINIA (which is ALL overdeveloped, in MY opinion). Fairfax, I think... "google" J.S. MOSBY'S CSA TREASURES IN NORTHERN VIRGINIA Good Luck & HH! :coffee2: :tongue3:  :icon_study:

I used to look for Mosby's treasure near Gainesville Va....never found it...but dug up plenty of artifacts..also near the aforementioned "hill" was a tavern that Mosby used as a remount....one of the reasons the union could never catch him was he had all these remount stations all over the territory....a fresh hoss kin run faster than a tired hoss
