Have you ever received one from a non collector? Friends or relatives that have an old coin and know you collect, and they gift it to you.
I have two in my collection. The first, an 1851 large cent was given to me by my mom. She found it in an old desk she was restoring. The second is a really nice 1832 half dollar my mother in law found laying on the ground. My father in law bought a property next to his and razed an old house and buried it, then leveled the ground. A good rain and there it was where the house once stood. I cringe to think other coins might have been buried.
Show me your gifted coins.
