Rarely do I go this route when detecting…..seemed like a good idea at the time.
Yes, I admit that I have traveled the same thought process.
1990 I think was the first/last attempt.
I figured the odds were better coin shooting, and I would still grab the occasional gold.

Indeed…maybe if I at least stay in the nickel range. However given my last gold ring was well below that I can’t bring myself to pass up those lower ones. Guess it will come down to my tolerance for pain on that given day

You did what few others do. You set a goal and accomplished it. Well done! Now imagine how well you'll do setting your goal to be gold jewelry! Look at the plus side, at least you didn't get skunked.
