Drawer pull maybe? The metal where the thread would be looks too thin though. Whatever it is, it's pretty!

When I first looked at it straight from the ground I thought "drawer pull" and put it with my finds. But after showing it to a few other people they had the same reservation as you do - about the thinness of the metal making it not suitable for that. Still could be it though I guess.

It actually has a bit more pink/red color to it than the purple tone in the pics. Yes I think it is glass.
