If you show him the ring and he says, "thanks for finding my' ring, I lost it the last time I metal detected my brother's yard", then ask him if he was dressed in drag.

Beautiful ring. Had a permission last month and the guy said there's been a few people that detected and there's probably not much to find. I also took the challenge and walked away with a silver ring and a silver Washington. Great job!

Reminds me of the time in Monroe, MI - I pulled my detector out of my truck, hadn't even turned it on yet and a fellow came up to me and said "don't bother, this place has been hit a thousand times". He was a motivational speaker I guess. He walked away and I went like three feet and got a gold ring.

Others just want to bring us down....
